Mark Hamill's Reddit AMA: The 6 Best Questions & Answers

by Kelly Woo of www.moviefone.com

With "Star Wars" fever growing ever hotter, original trilogy star Mark Hamill stoked the fire today by participating in a Reddit AMA.

Hamill -- who will appear in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII" -- answered a wide range of questions, from his favorite soups (tomato and French onion) to his favorite music ('60s rock 'n' roll). But we were naturally most interested in his answers about movies, so here are some highlights from his AMA:

1. tmoss726 asked: Did you ever expect Star Wars to be such a critical success?
I didn't expect it to be a critical success, I thought people would like it, because it took so many elements from movies we were familiar with, pirate, cowboy movies, war movies, and added humor. That's the thing that got me. Science fiction usually isn't funny. They have an 8 ft furry dog driving a spaceship, he's naked except headphones, that's funny. Even if it doesn't get great reviews it'll be a cult movie. People will go watch it at midnight because its so unique. I thought it would be popular but never thought it would be on the cover of Time magazine.
2. IAmArique asked: The age old question. Who would win in a fight: Batman, Luke Skywalker, or Skips?
Well you know Batman is physically much more formidable, but Luke has that Jedi magic, maybe he'd use mind tricks. I hope it would never come to that, because I think I'd have a hard time beating someone like Batman. My only hope would be mind tricks or running and hiding.
3. Gooberplease asked: What is your all time favorite movie?
I don't have an all time favorite, some of the movies that really impacted me as a kid were Hard Days Night, the Beatles first movie. I didn't think I liked musicals and then I saw West Side Story and it just crushed me. I was 9 or 10 years old and it was so tragic. That one stands out.
4. Vorlux asked: "Who was your hero when you were six?"
I used to watch superman on TV, and i loved the idea of flying. i used to wonder if i wanted to fly like superman or peter pan. Peter Pan looked like it was more fun, superman was so bolt straight. And i loved Zorro, the old Disney Zorro. What is it with guys with secret identities who go out and fight crime? And James bond. I loved all that stuff.
5. seamslegit asked: What is your favorite Lightsaber Color?
just worked with Samuel L Jackson and he reminded me he had a purple lightsaber, which nobody had, I thought that was cool that he got his own color. My favorite is green, I'm happy with what I had. You don't need to give me lavender or raw umber or whatever.
6. erikbro asked: If you could change one scene from the original trilogy what would you change and why?
There was a scene at the beginning of the first movie that was cut out. When you're first introduced to [Luke] he's on the farm and he sees the Robots, when R2 and C3PO eject he races to the club, and you see what his life is like on Tataouine. This beautiful actress calls him wormy. I loved it bc you saw that he wasn't well liked by his peers, and he bumps into Garrick Hagon, and Luke is really excited bc he has joined the empire, and Luke is so anxious to get off the farm and find his lot in life. He's thrilled that Biggs has joined the Empire, and feels as soon as he'd get the chance he'd join the rebel alliance. this shows that Luke is apolitical, and joining the empire is even attractive to him.

They changed to get to the plot faster, so now it goes straight to the 4th scene. The only place you can see it is the novelization of the screen play. With all the tweaking and adaptations, why not put it in to add detail to the story that's not there?

'Star Wars 7' and 'Empire Strikes Back' writer Lawrence Kasdan scripting Boba Fett standalone movie for release after 2015's 'Episode VII'?

Towards the end of 2013, it was revealed that Lawrence Kasdan, the writer of The Empire Strikes Back, would be taking over writing the script for 2015's Star Wars Episode VII alongside director J.J. Abrams. On top of this position, a new report claims that Kasdan is also penning a Boba Fett standalone film for the newly rebooted Star Wars film universe. Fett is one of the most iconic characters from the franchise, so fans should be happy to know that he is possibly in the hands of the man who essentially created the character.

This news comes from Jon Schnepp, a producer, director and actor best known for his work on The Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse. The well-established Schnepp says that a source of his has revealed the news that Kasdan is writing the Boba Fett script for this new standalone movie. Considering Schnepp's position in the entertainment world, this news is not far-fetched!

"One of them is Boba Fett," Schnepp said recently in regards to the standalone films. "It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan."

Again, Schnepp has ties to Star Wars thanks to his work with Cartoon Network, which ran the Clone Wars animated series.

‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Uncharted’ PS4 developer talks movie inspirations

Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann provided some comments in regards to being inspired with several Hollywood movies. According to a report from Gaming Bolt on Dec. 20, both directors from Naughty Dog (the development studio behind “The Last of Us” and the upcoming new “Uncharted” video game for the PS4) praised the critically acclaimed film, “Gravity.”

Bruce Straley stated that he was impressed at how the movie was intense yet simple at the same time, calling it an inspiration. You can check out a set of screens from “The Last of Us” in the slideshow to the left of this article and his comments below (courtesy of Empire Online and Gaming Bolt):
The world that we, Neil and I, have been inside of for three and a half years making The Last Of Us… that movie nailed on the head, in every way, shape and form. It’s so well done, so intense, so simple, all at the same time. It’s a very inspirational movie, to say the least.
Neil Druckmann also talked about “Children of Men,” saying that the action file “was brilliant in its simplicity,” adding that he also felt the same way about “Gravity.” He went on to state that Naughty Dog wanted to take a similar approach of creating a simple plot that focuses on the characters. You can find his statement below:
That story, for an action film, was brilliant in its simplicity. And I was upset that no game takes that approach. We don’t need over-the-top aliens and all this stuff, it can be down at the very human level. And I felt very similarly walking out of Gravity. So we wanted to take that approach of a very character-driven, simple plot so we could just focus on characters.
Naughty Dog is currently working on a new story-based DLC for “The Last of Us,” which was released earlier this year. Another development team from within the studio also started work on the next video game of the “Uncharted” series for the PS4. The upcoming title was just recently announced and currently does not have an official release date.

Emilia Clarke, 'Game of Thrones' Star, Joins 'Terminator 5' Cast as Sarah Connor

"Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke has been officially joined the cast of "Terminator 5" movie cast as Sarah Connor, beating out fellow actress Brie Larson for the role.

The starlet, best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen on the hit HBO show, is on her way to becoming a full-fledged movie star soon.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the British beauty has been officially cast as Sarah Connor in the upcoming movie, as Paramount confirmed.

While an announcement hasn't been made yet, the star had been keeping busy on the set of "Game of Thrones."

The British star was recently photographed shooting scenes in the city of Dalmatia, with her signature blue dress and long blonde hair.

According to Coming Soon, shooting of the "Game of Thrones" cast and crew will continue until its premiere next spring.

Aside from her television series and movie career, the 26-year-old has been busy battling dating rumors since she's gaining fame.

The beautiful star laughed off all the tabloid reports that sparked back in the summer about her and Hollywood hunk Franco, even claiming her family asked her about the supposed ring.

Speaking to The U.K. Guardian, Clarke claimed dating can be overwhelming in Hollywood, now that she's gone thru a breakup from comedian Seth MacFarlane.

"It's hilarious," says Clarke. "He is, of course, beautiful. But I feel there's only a handful of women who could form an engagement after two meetings, and I'm not one of them."

Here's but a small blurb of a bigger interview, this was the only part pertaining to Prometheus 2;

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Scott teased:  "Prometheus 2 is written.  I have already gotten the next two films ready to go.  That will 2014, 2015."

Now, does this mean he has the next two Prometheus films ready to go, or just his next two projects ready to go.  I have heard that Ridley Scott has wanted to make this a trilogy....
